Many water companies require an air gap in tanks connected to the mains supply to prevent backflow contamination. The air gap feature ensures the tank inlet does not become submerged, preventing any water from the tank from contaminating the mains water supply. This tank complies with the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 and the Scottish Water Byelaws 2004.
