Many water companies require an air gap in tanks connected to mains water to prevent backflow contamination. The air gap feature ensures the tank inlet remains above water level, preventing any contaminated water from entering the mains water supply. This tank meets the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 in England and Wales and the Scottish Water Byelaws 2004.
