Chlorhexidine is bactericidal to both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, although it is not as potent against the latter….Chlorhexidine Solution leaves a residue on the skin which gives a persistent antibacterial effect lasting 1 or 2 days. Its actions are not affected by blood, pus, or soaps….Bacterial resistance to the drug has not been reported.
